Sim Career Results

For a catcher, Mike had a very long, and solid career. He didn't retire until 2027, playing for 20 total years. Although his best years were with the team that drafted him, the Cardinals, Mike has to be happy that he'd win a title as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2020. It would be his second ring, the first coming with the 2011 Cardinals. It was that team he'd be the primary backstop for, catching for top MLB starters Adam Wainwright and Jaime Garcia. He would sign a minor league deal with the Orioles in the twilight of his career, but the team traded him before he'd ever wear their uniform.

MLB Champion x2 (2011, 2020)

Carl's career was shorter than most of ours, but in that time he got a lot done. He'd finish top 5 in home runs in MLB four different times, including being the league leader in 2011. He'd make the all star team as a Dodger (San Diego traded him after just two years for Mark Ellis) in 2010, and help lead them to a title that same year. Him and Matt Kemp would destroy pitching that year, and help win the world series in just 4 games.

All Star x1 (2010)

MLB Champion x1 (2010)

Dean took over the Jose Lopez 2B job in Seattle early on, skipping the minor leagues outright. He'd play 10 seasons as a Mariner, helping to lead them to a title in 2014. The never traded for Bedard version of Adam Jones was huge in Seattle, and he formed quite the duo with Dean. Dean would be an all-star 5 times, and had a solid second half of his career in Oakland. While not quite worthy of the hall of fame, he's a Seattle Mariner fan favorite for sure.

All Star x5

MLB Champion x1 (2014)

Zach had the misfortune of being drafted by a bad Cubs team, where he'd put up solid numbers on, but not get much recognition or win many games. Zach was a walk machine, leading the league in free passes 4 times. Even though he was a light hitting infielder, it was the walks that kept him as a starting lineup fixture for many years.

Nick had high expectations to live up to as the first overall pick in the 2007 draft. While his career isn't legendary, he was a stalwart on the Pirates for many years, and proved he was worthy of being a high pick. The team decided to play him at catcher for a few years, before shifting him back to his natural spot at the hot corner. Its there he'd win 4 straight gold glove awards between 2014 and 2017. The Pirates were pretty awful for most of his time in Pittsburgh, but he would help the team to two straight playoff appearances in 2016 and 2017. Fun fact: In 2010 Nick would be suspended for four games after he was involved in a brawl. Also suspended for being in that brawl? Dan Wightman.

Gold Glove Award x4 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)

Dan:

Drafted by the Nats, I had a 11 year career, all with Washington. Gross. I have a pretty solid career overall, winning a few awards, and making over $65 mil total across my career. My best year was arguably in 2015, when I hit 27 bombs, hit .306 and had solid defense in left field. Playing for the piss poor Nats, my team only made the playoffs once during my career, in 2014. That team won 104 games, but lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Silver Slugger x2 (2014, 2016)

All Star x2 (2010, 2016)

I felt bad for Matt, being drafted by the Yankees. Then he went and had the best career out of all of us. Matt is a 4 time champion, and the only of us to (likely) make the Hall of Fame. He'd be part of the leaders of a White Sox dynasty, that won back to back to back to back titles. He won 10 gold gloves, and if it wasn't for a fluke non selection in 2015, it would have been 11 straight years of being a gold glove center fielder. He's very likely to be inducted to the hall of fame, but I have no interest in simming more years to confirm it.

MLB Champion x4 (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)

Unlike most of us, Jon had to spend a couple years in the minors after being drafted by Arizona. It may have done him well though, as he enjoyed the longest career out of all of us. His career spanned two decades, finally retiring in 2028. Jon would play a few years in Arizona, but the team decided they'd be better off with a short stop prospect. They traded Jon to the Texas Rangers, where he'd spend the best years of his career. He put up very good numbers over the next decade even leading MLB in hits in 2018. In the final year of his career, he platooned at 1B for the Cardinals, and its there he won his first and only ring. He'd finish in the 3000 hit club and has an outside shot at the Hall of Fame.

ALDS MVP x2 (2017, 2021)

Silver Slugger x5 (2012, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2023)

All Star x4 (2012, 2022, 2024, 2025)

MLB Champion (2028)

Brandon looks like one of the most under appreciated players in MLB history - despite very good numbers over 16 years, he was only selected to one all star game, and won no other accolades. He was also unlucky - in 2015 he posted a 2.42 ERA over 33 starts and won just 5 games. His best years would be for the Giants, but in 2017 he'd sign as a free agent with the Nationals. It was there he'd join up with myself as teammates. Yay.

All Star x1 (2018)

Kevin came into the draft as the most MLB ready of all of us, as a fireball closer. He'd be put to use right away after being drafted by Philadelphia, closing out a league leading 41 games his rookie year. He'd enjoy a long career as one of MLB's top closers, even earning 93 million over his career - higher than most of us as position players. He'd be part of the White Sox dynasty, winning two ring with them. His career was dealt a devastating blow in 2016, when he'd tear his rotator cuff, meaning he was on the shelf for 14 months. He would have a bounce back year in 2018, but then suffered the same exact injury . He would never be quite the same after that.

All Star x6 (2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018)

MLB Champion x2 (2018, 2019)

Orioles notes:

Holy fuck this timeline sucks.

The O's would shock the world in 2007 and make the playoffs as a wildcard. Erik Bedard was even more dominant in this sim than in real life, and we had actual hope. The problem would be is it was a mirage, and we'd go back to sucking right away. Due to the playoff run though, we decided against trading Bedard. No AJo, no full rebuild. This meant we wouldn't see the playoffs again. Ever. I stopped simming in 2028, and we were still awful.

We were so bad that we got top draft picks, and were still terrible. Bryce Harper spent the first 7 years of his career in Baltimore, but it wasn't until he left as a free agent that he'd turn into an MVP candidate. We drafted Craig Kimbrel, Matt Harvey, Kyle Schwarber, and more. Still terrible. Our best player during this sim was Hyun Jin Ryu, an Orioles legend now. He'd put up good enough numbers to be considered a top 5 O's pitcher of all time, easily.

On the plus side of things...Nick Markakis never left the Orioles, and played until 2022. He'd have a remarkably similar career to his in real life, never being bad, even at the age of 38 in his farewell season.

MLB Notes:

Manny Machado never turned into a star, instead being a pretty good / borderline all star for the Braves for most of his career.

Tim Lincecum didn't fall off until late in his career. He'd leave the Giants for the Mets in 2013 as a free agent, and in that first season in New York he'd win MVP / Cy Young, and win a title. My boy.

Mike Trout has a Hall of Fame career, with 84.4 WAR as a 37 year old free agent currently. He played mostly for the Astros, but bounced around a good bit.

Miguel Sano is 35 at the time I ended the sim, and 4 home runs away from 600 total.

The White Sox had a dynasty in this, winning 4 straight titles. The Yankees would win 3 more to their total. The Cubs 2 more, and Angels would get 2 as well.

HOF Members that jumped out:

Ryan Braun, Miggy Cabrera, CC Sabathia, Jake Peavy, Josh Beckett Alex Rodriguez.

Beckett took 3 extra years to get in, the rest were first ballots. In this timeline Miggy Cabrera stayed a Marlin the majority of his career, and never got fat - he even won gold glove a few times. Braun would be a life long Brewer, presumably never getting busted for roids. His rookie season he hit 59 home runs and batted .357, and had a 48 game hitting streak at one point. He'd win the triple crown that year. He'd never top those numbers again, but still had a ridiculous career. A-Rod would go on to break the all time home run record, as well as RBI and runs records. Asshole.

Kershaw isn't retired long enough to be eligible yet, but he'll be first ballot / the greatest pitcher ever maybe. He'd win 10 straight Cy's at one point, and winning an 11th later on. He'd win an MVP, as well as 2 rings for the Dodgers. A 15 time all star, his career WAR in this sim would put him at #9 of all time in MLB.

I have the file saved, so if there's anyone / anything you want to know about, let me know.
