Wombat Simulation: May standings and highlights

- The Two Starts and Kaiden's Krew are the league's hottest teams, both having huge months in May. The Two Starts in particular have been incredible, posting a run differential of +118. Closest to them in that department is the Ham Sandwiches, with +55. Meanwhile the AWL East is a bloodbath, with three times within 2 games of each other for the top spot.

- Edinson Volquez (Killer Pandas) tore a flexor tendon, and is out for the year. Rafael Betancourt (Pez Sox), Nick's OG boy, is out 4 months with a hip flexor. Christian Yelich (Han Solo Shots) is out 4-5 weeks with "chronic back soreness". Chad Billingsley (Crab Cakes) is out 3-4 months with a torn triceps.

- The biggest injury of the month was Zach Greinke (Kingslayers), who tore a labrum in his shoulder, keeping him out 4-5 months. This is a huge blow for the Slayers, as Greinke went in to this league as the #2 rated player in single season WAR between 2007 and 2017. Thankfully they have been able to rely on Hisashi Iwakuma so far on the year, with his stat line at of the month including a 2.52 ERA, and 71.1 IP, good for 3rd in all of Wombat after Josh Johnson and Gerrit Cole, both of the Time Consumers.

- Johnson has quickly jumped ahead of the pack as MLB's pitcher - he leads the league in IP, ERA (1.86), and WAR (3.3). He's 2nd in strikeouts with 77, to Jose Fernandez's (Killer Pandas) 81.

- Carlos Gonzalez (Two Starts) cooled down in May, hitting "only" 6 home runs more, and hitting .231 on the month. Despite coming back to earth, he's still a league leader in most offensive categories. His teammate Andrew McCutchen has picked up his game to be right next to Gonzalez as an MVP candidate, being tied for the #1 spot in total WAR (3.0) along with Mike Trout (Kingslayers) and Kris Bryant (Han Solo Shots). He's got 8 bombs, 50 runs, and a .470 OBP through the end of May.

- Mark Buehrle (Cold Notes) and Mike Lowell (Pez Sox) have each gone to their respective GM's to complain that they should be starting.

- Nelson Cruz (Megalomaniacs) hit 3 bombs in one game, all solo shots in a win against the Schatzy Turtles. A few weeks earlier, teammate Manny Machado hit 3 in one game, also in a win against the Turts. These would end up being the only 3 HR games of the year.
